JETS KNOT UP CATS, JAGUARS REMAIN UNDEFEATED
IN DYF HOUSE LEAGUE ACTION

October 3, 2010: The 4th week of the Dover Youth Football House League season again brought some exciting games, as the Jets and Cats played to a 12-12 tie in a thrilling game that went down to the wire. In other league action, the Jaguars remained unbeaten with a 20-12 win over the Chiefs and the Raiders kept the Giants winless with a hard fought win by the score of 20-8. The standings at the halfway point of the season are as follows: Jaguars 4-0, Cats 3-0-1, Raiders 2-2, Jets 1-2-1, Chiefs 1-3, and Giants 0-4.

8:30 a.m. Jets vs. Cats Tie, 12-12
The Jets turned in a solid team effort against the undefeated Cats as the teams played to the first tie of the season by a score of 12-12. The Jets jumped out to an early 6-0 lead on a thrilling run by tailback Andral Lafleur. The PAT attempt failed. The Cats had a quick answer as Bennett Abladian scored on a nifty run, tying the score 6-6. The PAT attempt was not good and the score stood at 6-6 at halftime. The Jets took the lead late in the game on another spectacular run by Andral Lafleur. The PAT attempt was once again no good. As the Cats had the ball with only several minutes in the game, they went into their hurry up offense. Once again, Abladian scored on another exciting run and the score was knotted at 12-12 with about one minute remaining in the game. The Cats attempt to take their first lead of the game failed as the PAT attempt was no good by the length of a football as they could not stuff the ball across the goal line. In addition to hard running by Andral Lafleur, the Jets offense was sparked by some nice running by Collin Serra and Ryan Pottier as the Jets offensive line did a good job in opening up some holes. The Cats offense was ignited by Justin Grondahl and Cameron Richard-Storace in addition to the shifty running of Abladian. On defense, the Cats were lead by Richard-Storace who had a few fumble recoveries, Abladian, Jacob Burd, Samuel Dembowitz, Lucas Hamilton, Owen Hilyard, Jacob Plewinski, Kyle Miller and Sam Pigot. The Jets were lead on defense by Michael Brun who seemed to be involved in every tackle and had a fumble recovery, Pottier, Aaron Daniels, Devontae Lafleur and Andral Lafleur.

10:00 a.m. Jaguars vs. Chiefs Jaguars win, 20-12
The Jaguars remain as the only team with an unblemished record as they defeated the Chiefs in another close game by the score of 20-12. The Jags dynamic offense was sparked by do everything Luke McCusker, Kyle Ferrerio and John Wertz. The Jags opened up the scoring on a run by John Wertz. McCusker kept the ball on a quarterback keeper and crossed the goal line for the PAT attempt and the Jags quickly lead 8-0. The Chiefs had an answer of their own as they drove down the field and scored on Ty Vitko run. The PAT attempt failed and the score stood at 8-6 until late in the first half. The Jags moved the ball and on the last play of the half, Luke McCusker attempted to pass down the field but could not find an open receiver and took off down the sidelines and crossed the goal line with no time left on the clock to make the score 14-6. The PAT attempt failed. In the 2nd half, Kyle Ferrerio punched the ball into the end zone a short run and the PAT attempt was no good and the Jags lead 20-6. Again the Chiefs were not to be denied as they moved the ball down the field and scored on a run by Fin Wingren. The PAT attempt failed and the score was 20-12. While the Chiefs had one more attempt to try and score the Jaguars defense stiffened. The Jags defense was lead all day by Peter Ciotti who was in on numerous tackles, Johnny Rodrigues, Jack Dalton, Connor Bloomstrom, Bailey Beakes, McCusker and Wertz. The Chiefs defense was anchored by Sebastian Cook, Sean Gallipo, Liam Bonyman, Harry Tarbox, Jacob Gellerson, Liam Lovering, and Vitko. The Chiefs offense also received a spark from Ethan Boucher, Alex Dureau, Jacob Stephen and Gellerson, in addition to Vitko and Wingren. The Jags also received offensive support from Pat Fleming in addition to McCusker, Ferrerio and Wertz.

11:30 a.m. Raiders vs. Giants Raiders win, 20-8

The Raiders turned in their second solid performance in consecutive weeks with a victory over the Giants. The game was close throughout and started out as a defensive game. The first touchdown was scored by the Raiders defense on a fumble recovery as Luc Normandeau pounced on the loose pigskin in the end zone. Damien Hancock scored the PAT and the Raiders lead 8-0. The Giants answered back as the Murphy brothers helped the Giants tie the score. Dylan Murphy scored on a nice run to make the score 8-6, while Spencer Murphy took the handoff for the PAT and crossed the goal line to knot the score at 8-8. The Raiders Aaron Oroh made sure the Giants would not take the lead as the game progressed as he barreled into the end zone on running plays for both of the Raiders next touchdowns. In both cases, the PAT attempt failed and the final score was 20-8 in the Raiders favor. In addition to Oroh, the Raiders offensive spark was provided by Normandeau, Jaiden Hayes, Jason Suwu and members of the offensive line lead by Michael Somerset, Sattar Al-Zubaidi, Patrick Gunter and Aiden McDonough. In addition to the Murphy brothers, the Giants offense was ignited by Bradley Plodzik, Ethan Greene, Tyler Schneider and Jackson Perkins. The Giants defense was anchored by Cody Sheehan, Quinn Wade, Sam Wentworth and Camden Carroll. The Raiders defense was also led by Oroh who had several fumble recoveries, Somerset, Ben Stine, Austin Bousquet and Cole Golding.
