In an epic battle of teams without any losses, the Cats came out on top with a hard fought 14-6 victory over the Jaguars. The Jaguars struck first in the game on a long 50 yard run by shifty Luke McCusker as he made several cut backs and had the Cats defenders grasping for air on the play. The PAT was no good and the Jags had their only lead of the game. The Cats answered the Jags on a hard run by Sam MacGregor as he blasted and dashed his way into the end zone. Justin Grondahl scored the PAT on a quarterback keeper and the Cats jumped ahead 8-6. The next score of the game was a highlight reel run by Cameron Richard-Storace of the Cats on the last play of the half. Richard-Storace was running hard through the Jags defense and while it looked like he was stopped short of the goal line, he kept his legs churning and broke through the pack into the end zone. The PAT was intercepted by the Jags McCusker and the score was 14-6 at the half. While both teams tried to move the ball down the field in the 2nd half, both defenses stiffened and no further scoring occurred in the game. The Cats ferocious defense was lead by a number of players, including Jacob Burd, Jonathon Briggs, Geoffrey Smith, Adam Houtenville, Tobias Chasse, Kyle Miller, Sam Pigot and Noah Buteau. The Cats offense also received a spark from the shifty running of Bennett Abladian, in addition to Grondahl, MacGregor, and Richard-Storace. The Jags offense was ignited by some nice runs by Kyle Ferriero and McCusker, and solid blocking by Connor Blomstrom and Jacob McCormack. The Jags defense again received a monster performance from Peter Ciotti who was all over the field, despite getting dinged up early in the game. The Jags defense was also anchored by Bailey Beakes, Shaun McCellon, Dom Houle, Stevie Champagne and Jack Dalton, in addition to Ferriero who was involved in many tackles and had a fumble recovery. |
